Why Rugasoc?

Rugasoc provides a sporting programme for children from ages 3-9yrs, kiwi owned and focuses on both rugby and soccer promoting  an active lifestyle, build’s friendship and confidence in their chosen sporting code, having fun along the journey and being recognised for their efforts.

Most parents don’t have the time or ability to coach their child either in rugby and soccer. A lot of club coaches are parents volunteering because no one else could be committed and unless they’ve played the sport, they may have an idea on how to help the children do well, but more unluckily because dads are busy working.

Micky, the director of Rugasoc school is a qualified coach in both rugby and soccer. He has developed the programme from years of experience in club, primary and high schools in first eleven soccer and first fifteen rugby. In order to coach in schools, Micky is police vet checked for safety of students.

There are certain stand out players In sport and it’s because they have developed their skills at an early age and have had the extra coaching, that makes the difference.

Only Rugasoc students have the ability to play both rugby or soccer. Hence the name. With transferable skills they’ve learnt from the programme. Most children never get the opportunity to play other sporting codes it’s either or and so don’t get the chance to discover their hidden talents.

In the preschool classes we encourage parent participation, as it is important to engage one on one and develop a relationship through Rugasoc culture.

2019 Rugasoc was invited to run a disability class and has been ongoing since. From this amazing results  have been gained keeping it challenging and innovative from traditional practice.

Being part of something is just as important.  Regardless of ability, that brings joy to people.
